You came up with a good solution. Personally, I can not see black. So I use colorful cases for my keys, hearing aide cases, and phone. And I try to have designated storage areas. If I inadvertently lose any thing, then color helps me find it. Garden tools, too. Yes, it is a strategy for visually challenged people.

Hm. In my situation, that would be problematic because one side is the phone screen. Perhaps your phone case has a little cover for the screen side.
