Well we lost Ed Ames back here recently. The obits all emphasized his tomahawk-throwing moment on the Tonight Show (which, to be fair, provoked what has been called the longest laugh ever recorded on TV), but he was also the last survivor of the Ames Brothers quartet.
The Ameses had a big hit song in 1953, "You, You, You." A terrible song, really. Over half of the words in it are either you or do or to or true.
But catchy. I hate to say this, but I don't think I have gotten that song entirely out of my head since it dropped (as the kids say today). Seventy years ago. Damn.
Is there anything particularly engaging about the sound of the pronoun you?
Pretty to think so, relationship-wise.
It stretches out nice, so much mellower than meeeeee. It goes well with "Hey." It implies "Ooo Baby Baby." "Love you" is just lots better, flow-wise, than "Love thee."
