A great rhyming song is Cole Porter's "You're the Top." The female character Reno Sweeney is reassuring the male lead. He is down on himself, keeps describing himself as "the bottom." She keeps pumping him up. The rhymes are simple enough ("pants" and "romance" are no-brainers), and yet they surprise, still today, even if you have no reason to remember the theatre invoked:
