Can Biden's State of the Union speech have turned the tide? I am slow to hope so. I remember other times when Trump was seen as fading.

            CNN in 2022:

Lindsey Graham, a close Trump ally, told CNN. In the weeks since his campaign announcement, signs of Trump's dwindling power over the party have been on full display . . .

            And Vanity Fair in 2017:

            Robert Mueller has haunted Donald Trump's White House as a hovering, mostly unseen menace. But by securing indictments of Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, and a surprise guilty plea from foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, Mueller announced loudly that the Russia investigation poses an existential threat to the president. “Here's what Manafort's indictment tells me: Mueller is going to go over every financial dealing of Jared Kushner and the Trump Organization,' said former Trump campaign aide Sam Nunberg. “Trump is at 33 percent in Gallup. You can't go any lower. He's fucked."

            As we know from Stormy Daniels, there is little in the way of lasting satisfaction to be derived from thinking, "Well, Trump is fucked." Okay, Marla Maples (Trump's second Mrs.) was quoted in the New York Post as saying that Trump provided her with "the best sex I've ever had," but didn't that sound an awful lot like it might have been voiced, in fact, by John Miller, the p. r. person who was, in fact, on the phone, Trump himself?
