With all the talk of “alpha maleness” going around, I thought it might be time to share with you an excerpt from my hard-to-find, ahead of its time (1984), semi-classic What Men Don’t Tell Women. Speaking is a man named Joseph:

Now Rose says I’m too androgynous. She says she can’t continue to grow unless she has somebody to bounce off of. So she made me go to this Male Empowerment Workshop. Is what they call it. Men getting together to recapture their natural male energy that they’ve been suppressing because it pissed women off. Now, suppressing it pisses women off.
